(Linkage) I've Got Silence On My Radio

How cool would this be if it was true?
No commentary now though, too damn tired.

What's even more cool is that Australia randomly tests 10,000 samples of animal scat annually.  That would be quite the job description.

Why are your links no longer plain old html <a> links?  I understand it must be one of these new fangled apache modules, I'm just looking for reasoning.

You mean the redir?_URL= bit?
There's two reasons, one is that I like fooling around with modules (I actually did a search through Debian's package list for libapache–their prefix for Apache modules–and installed anything that looked interesting/useful.) The second is I'm curious as to whether people actually follow links in posts (and  these show up in Apache's log files).

I'd give it probably a week before I get bored of typing the extra bit in the URL and remove the module.

The real question is what do you tell your kids when they ask what Daddy/Mommy does for a living?

Ok, here's my commentary:

First things first: apparently these sitings have been going on for decades, at least in Tasmania, yet no one has managed to get conclusive proof of their existence. (The Tasmanian sitings even include claims of tracks, much like a certain North American phenomenon.)
As such I don't put a whole lot of trust into these claims, although I will admit that stranger things have happened.

Really, I'm more curious as to what affect this would have on the attmepts to clone it from old DNA.

Finally, what that nice photo in the article fails to show is that the Tasmanian tiger was a really ugly looking mutt.

Interesting side note: Apparently the degree to which the Tasmanian tiger could open its jaw was larger than that of any other known mammal.
