While it's not really that unusual to find random businesses that take Canadian Time Money as payment (e.g.: at least one local taxi company does), sometimes just where it shows up is surprising.
For example, from eBay Canada's Accepted Payments Policy:
"Permitted on eBay.ca:[…]
- Sellers may offer to accept personal cheques, money orders, cashier's cheques, certified cheques, Canadian Tire Money™ and other negotiable instruments."
So, if I decided to sell my collection of potato chips that look like prime ministers and insist that I accepted payment only in Canadian Tire Money, then eBay explicitly says that they're fine with that.
