La Fête du Travail CCXI (September 19, 2003)

(Ramblings) Fuck.

Funding:							 $3400
Tuition (Approx): ($1700)
Rent (4 Months): ($2200)
Net Income (before groceries, phone, &c.): ($ 500)

I think the above table does a fairly good job of summarising my current situation. There may be some more funding coming for me, but it's unlikely to do much more than cover rent and groceries. As for jobs available through the CS deprtment, well, I didn't get any of the ones I had applied for and there's no more that have positions available.

Needless to say, if I can't make my rent, I definitely can't pay for Internet. Therefore this site will be going down by the end of the month barring any sudden miracles. It's been short but fun.

Update: Speaking of sudden miracles, the school of graduate studies is now giving me a little extra funding for this term only. I'll be able to cover my rent and hopefully groceries, but I'm still going to have to take this site down.

I could host the site for you.  I can't guarantee perfect stability (or competence as a sysadmin) but at least you could still have a blog running.

If you can explain to me how to do it, I could even set it up so that heimdall.shacknet.nu directs users to pumpkin.ath.cx/~andrew (or whatever your crazy username is).

Thanks for the offer. I'll let you know whether or not I need it.

I may be moving in with a friend who's sick of his room mates, so if I do I may be able to keep it running since my rent will go down substansially.

It's not getting any better either, seeing as more people are showing up but there's no major increase in housing.

City council doesn't help either, what with passing bylaws that lower the number of unrelated people who can share a dwelling.

Oh my god.  There are laws about that?  That's insane.

Yep, at least I think it got passed.

It was several years ago, they were trying to lower the limit to something ridiculous at first, I think 4 (which makes a lot houses pretty much worthless for renting as many are 5 bedrooms if you include the basement.)

If it did get passed it was set at 5. So it's not too much of an effect as few houses are big enough to hold more, but it still has an effect.
