Obey Wario! Destroy Mario!
I was doing some cleaning earlier today, and took this picture while I was taking care of the cable nest around the TV.
Anyone got a Sega Saturn they want to sell?
Two points and proof that you have no social life if you get the title.
That was from one of the TV ads for one the Mario games... Super Mario Land 2?
Proof of no social life: Top of the scoreboard. ;-)
Actually, it was Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins. I'm impressed, in a strange sort of way...
Now, here's a tough one: do you remember the original Kirby's Dreamland ads? I almost used a quote from that instead of this one as you can't find results if you Google for quotes from the former.
Heh, glad you didn't use those, because I don't think I've ever seen any ads for a Kirby game. =/
I don't think they received heavy airplay. I just remember them as my brother bought the game based on the ads.
Basic idea: it showed this big Rambo-esque guy on one pedestal and Kirby (this was the pre-NES, white Kirby) on another. It then proceeded to list all these abilities that the muscular hero had, while Kirby looked more and more ashamed with each new attribute listed. Finally the announcer stated "And what does Kirby have? An appetite.", with the inhaling sound effect and an animation of Kirby swallowing the action hero being placed between the two sentences.
